Announcing Our 2024 Older Adult Scholarship Awardees

Scholarship Awardees Maria Barrios (left) and Koletti Leha Ieremi (right) are presented their scholarships by Danny Sauter, Executive Director of SFNCT.

One of the most important ways that San Francisco Neighborhood Centers Together supports its members is through resources, training, and development for our 300+ staff across our centers. That’s why we’re so proud to announce the first-ever recipients of our 2024 Older Adult Staff Scholarship.

This new initiative is aimed at supporting staff’s professional development by funding eligible expenses, be it certifications, course work, industry training, and so on. The $3,000 award is an investment into individuals and directly supports their development to better serve their community.

Meet Our Scholarship Winners: Maria & Koletti

We’re pleased to announce our inaugural recipients of the Scholarship:

  • Maria Barrios of Good Samaritan Family Resource Center

  • Koletti Leha Ieremia of TEL HI Neighborhood Center

Maria Barrios, Resident Engagement Coordinator at Good Samaritan’s Bernal Dwellings housing site will use the scholarship to pursue a certification program to assist seniors and develop senior programming throughout 2024-2025. The scholarship was presented to Maria at the monthly resident meeting, a setting in which everyone cheered on Maria as the news was translated into Spanish, ASL, and Cantonese.

Koletti Leha Ieremi, Director of Senior Programs & Family Services at TEL HI Neighborhood Center, will use the scholarship for a series of industry trainings and workshops. Her award presentation during a senior hot lunch was met with smiles and congratulations from a packed room of 50+ seniors that she supports.

Thank you Metta Fund

Our funding for this program comes from our partner, Metta Fund, who has generously shown their commitment to our centers and the staff that serve them each and every day. We appreciate their investment and support.
