Neighborhood Centers Hold Workshop on Older Adult Programs

Last week San Francisco Neighborhood Centers Together hosted a workshop focused on programs and practices to reach the older adult population in San Francisco. The half-day event brought together more than two dozen attendees from across the city. Learning opportunities like these are critical to our staff that serve and support more than 3,000 older adults in their communities each year.

Discussions included:

  • The Richmond Neighborhood Center spoke about their Home Delivered Grocery Program and its success in partnering with other community partners.

  • Metta Fund shared their history and unique positioning in the grant making space, as well as their vision of “inclusive and healthy communities where all can thrive and age with dignity and joy.”

  • Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS) outlined the programs and funding sources the city department has to support communities across in San Francisco.

  • TEL HI Neighborhood Center explained their numerous programs to engage older adults and detailed their new Senior Advisory Council that was formed to guide their work.

  • SFMTA explained their various paratransit programs that serve older adults and partner with community serving organizations.

A special thank you to Metta Fund for their support to make this workshop possible!
