We Support Investment in Black Leadership and Communities
Neighborhood Centers Together, a coalition of seven San Francisco neighborhood centers, are deeply committed to advancing the work of our Black Led organizations and doing more to support our community centers that serve the disenfranchised and disproportionately underserved black community.
Just as the Black Lives Matters movement has highlighted, we believe the best way to do this is through equitable investments in these community centers. Our black communities have faced decades of underinvestment, police violence, and unequal policy decisions. Our neighborhood centers have stood as sanctuaries in their community to serve the most vulnerable populations that have been most impacted by these past failures.
SFNCT is proud of the work and leadership of 3 of our black-led coalition agencies; Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center (led by Gina Dacus), Booker T. Washington Community Center (led by Regina Marsh) and I.T. Bookman Community Center (led by Felisia Thibodeaux). We support and urge your further investment in these neighborhood centers, their leadership, and capacity building as they navigate these very critical times.
We all share a responsibility in making sure that our actions in the coming months match the passion and pain that we have seen expressed in our city and across our country. We urge you to express this with equitable investments for our neighborhood centers and their black leadership.
Thank You
